At least I think it is as it sounds like the roof release cable hitting fibreglass with enough force to be quite noticeable. I've just had new rubber trim put around the doors and roof in the hope it would help plus adjusted the cable to take any slack out, but I don't think there was any.
It could be noise from somewhere else being transmitted but it does seem very close behind my head. Anyone else had similar?

I have always had a strange noise in my tuscan. It sounds like a rattling shelf, hard to explain. I remember both my chimaeras being the same

Might be worth a search on P'Heads?

Seem to remember a Tuscan owner replaced the release/roof pin cable and noted a loose clamp/fixing near the pin end which he thought was causing a rattle. Was a good write up with several photos.

Thanks Nick. Yes I found that thread as one handle had detached, but while still operating perfectly I thought it could be the culprit. It was repaired during the recent service but hasn't improved.
I'd love to see a schematic/cutaway of the mechanism and route of this cable, wonder if anyone has factory pictures of this stage of build...doubt it though. Cheers.

Eta maybe a different thread as I don't remember many photos.

Like the rigging on a boat in the wind, but deeper and heavier sounding?

It's strange because sometimes it's better than others. I've sprayed oil down and manipulated the pins but now thinking it could be caused by movement in the receiving holes of the roof panel.

Worth checking the pin receptacle allen screws are tight and aligned on the targa panel, mine had worked loose on the near side and there was a small amount of vertical movement on bumpy roads which resulted in a similar noise smile

Thanks Gladers, checked and all fine... unfortunately.
I think there should be a rubber grommet in the roof receptor, if so mines missing so that can't be helping.
