Can-cover gasket sealant?

Is it advisable to put some sealer between the cam-housing and cam-cover gasket, perhaps Fel-pro Blue, Wellseal or similar?
Have just removed the rear cam-cover on a Peugeot TU5JP4 engine as suspect slight oil leak from that gasket. Rubber seems a bit hard but maybe they are like that from new, nothing to compare it against.
New available on Aliexpress cheap enough but got to wait three weeks for that.

Was there sealant on the original? That's usually the best indication if you need it.
In my experience of other engines, you often find a grubby surface on the metal where you have leaks around gaskets; I have used very fine scotchbrite to clean this up, following recommendations from a marque specialist however many baulk at the idea as there are understandable concerns about abrasives in the engine. My advice would be to avoid getting the dust into the engine, wash it down with brake cleaner, then change the oil and filter shortly after.

If there is a gasket then very unlikely to need a sealer, just a new gasket, as they harden with age, make sure everything is spotless when re fitting.Have just removed the rear cam-cover on a Peugeot TU5JP4 engine as suspect slight oil leak from that gasket. sealants can often stop a gasket working properly.
