Afternoon all, was hoping someone would be able to shed some light on an issue I am having with my 2015 Giulietta. As with many Alfa gremlins there are a number of manifestations:

- The folding wing mirrors (button on driver side door) no longer work. They cannot be retracted unless manually.
- The heater in the right wing mirror no longer works.
- When switching the rear window heat on, the doors all unlock and the cockpit lights switch on.
- Upon engine shutdown, there is an audible ticking sound coming from the wing mirrors which lasts 3 or 4 minutes or until the car is locked.

I suspect these issues all arise from the right wing mirror, as they all appeared at the same time. It seems there may be an issue with the right wing mirror heater, which is activated when the rear window heater is switched on, which perhaps causes a short circuit and unlocks the doors. Not sure why the wing mirrors won't fold or why there is a ticking noise.

I have checked all the fuses and they all look absolutely fine, so I'm pretty sure that can't be the issue. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue with their car? Any info greatly appreciated!

does your rear wiper park normally ?

maybe totally unrelated but the tailgate looms can cause all sort of random problems to a multitude of vehicle systems, particularly if back-feeding to the body control module.

Good thought, but yes - it does. No issues with any of the wipers

i thought it would be a long shot. but the heated mirrors are a function of the heated screen wiring so worth ruling out.

its usually the wiper that develops a mind of its own first if the tailgate loom is implicated
