I've started getting water in the passenger footwell after it has rained. At first I thought it maybe the window seal. But it appears to be coming from further to the front of the car. Like from under the bonnet. Any ideas? Have heard it can be hard to source the problem from a quick Google search.
Thanks

Might help if you say what car it is.

I had a Peugeot 106 GTi that had blocked drains that ran down the pillars of the windscreen and came back up the plastic on the inside of the pillar and spilt in to the footwell.

Could be sunroof, could be a window seal. Water will always find the lowest point to spill out of.

Blocked drains in the front scuttle water though the heater vents? Which car is it?

I always used to have water collect in the wheel well on my e36, and my Mrs's saxo always collect water in the foot wells. 4mm drill bit sorted it (recommended for sheds only).

Has the windscreen been replaced recently - its not unknown for the fitter to have refitted trim incorrectly

Strip out the carpet and let the footwell dry out.
Steal some talcum powder(wife/GF/mum's are potential sources)spread talcum on footwell before next rain, then check for drips and runs.
Seal holes with sillycone sealant, you will probably have to buy this.

No original windscreen. It seems to be coming down from that kind of area though

Where’s the pollen filter? Has it been changed recently?

Also, does it have a sunroof?

Had similar problem with my Audi TT. cleared all drains sealed around hvac etc.
Finally traced to top of windscreen was letting the water in.
New screen fitted at insurance excess cost only. All now dry. so iam guessing your windscreen seal is compromised somewhere.

Another vote for windscreen.

You could try covering the car in snowfoam, running the heater at full fan speed and checking for bubbles around seals etc

I used an 18v DEWALT leaf blower inside the car, showed up all the air / water leaks pretty well lol

The sunroof drains usually run down the A pillars, worth checking they're clear/intact/etc.

Pollen filter is behind the glovebox, easy to get to, so check if that's wet too.

A water test is the only way to be sure.

A water test on the seals do you mean?

A-Pillars are the right and left sides of the windscreen.

Water test on the windscreen. Simulate rain with a hose or watering can. Best to have someone on the inside looking and dabbing with tissue around the edges. If nothing, you have to get under the carpet in the footwell and kick panels to see if you can spot water trickling in.

If still drawing a blank, check any cables/loom/pipe coming through the bulkhead. Water can sometimes travel along them and enter the cabin area especially if the grommet is damaged or unseated.
