Having had my V12V for 6 months or so now there are some changes I’d like to make to improve it. Nothing particularly wrong with it, I just always like trying to improve and make my cars individual.

I’m looking for some advice on making the following initial changes if anyone can kindly advise:

- will a V12VS back box fit on a 2009 V12V? The current quicksilver is very loud and I’d like it switchable
- will 11mm spacers fit without changing the nuts to new ones?
- are the carbon seat covers easy enough to remove and get re trimmed? I know the back section comes out but the seat pad appears to be stitched in

There a few other things I’ve done already (valour style gear knob, carbon bits) and more I’d like to do like AMR mesh wheels, carbon wrap roof and rear gt12 section style, mesh grille, suspension, x pipe and some crackle powder costing of some parts but those will follow.

TIA for any help

Cannot help with most of that BUT could you please post a photo of your gear stick?

Thank you!

Many of the Vantage back boxes V12 and V8 are interchangeable. One issue is that earlier (SS and manual) cars using the 6 speed box - the 6 speed unit has a transmission oil cooler which squeezes in behind the back box and with pipe runs limiting options - though I’m not sure to what degree this is packaging related as opposed to the back box for those cars needing to be a sufficiently different profile to accommodate the cooler and/or the piping. The other issue is that the back box packaging g space is significantly reduced in the V12 - it uses a much smaller silencer so fitting a heavier V8 box to a V12, if for some strange reason someone wanted to do that, is not going to work.

Other than that, the position of the back box inlet and outlet pipes is the same, it’s just that the V12 boxes are significantly smaller.

As evidence, my V8S currently runs a V12 AMR back box. It’s about to come off and be returned to standard for export reasons.

Most likely not.
Just check the thread inside one nut - if it extends all the way in the conical part, they are OK for 11mm spacers.

Thanks for the reply, i was aware of the oil cooler issue hence the question really. I'm still not sure if your saying an S box will fit?

And thanks for the advice on the nut, will take one off for a look.

Sorry that was just a mid installation pic. It does have the normal leather gaiter back on it now.

Although I was tempted to keep it fully exposed for a while like the victor.

£250 by a chap in Mexico i used previously for my old CSR

He had to custom mill the all shaft part due to the existing aston knob having a little pin at the top for the 'push down turn' way it secures.

love that gear knob!

I have been after one from the V600's for ages and tried to sort making my own but the "bayonet" style fitting was a pain.

I love that, and like it with the exposed gear shift to be fair.

In terms of 11mm spacers the end of the OE aston nuts is not threaded so you will lose a lot of contact / threads with an 11mm spacer.
Most ford nuts etc are threaded to the end so its not hard to find replacement nuts but I would not recommend oe nuts and 11mm spacers.

I looked into having a carbon fiber wrap put on my roof. But never found anything that looked real.

Maybe because it isn't real?

maybe you can do the carbon wrap and then over that you put a see through wrap, so you get a sort 3d or deeper look, so it could look a bit more like? no idea hehe

It was several years ago, maybe the carbon fiber look wraps have improved since. When I was looking the material didn’t look like real carbon fiber. It was just garbage.
