Not sure if I have been unlucky, or its "just the way it is". But I have visited Spain twice in the last 3 months and both times waiting for luggage at the carousel was beyond a joke. First trip early December BA-Madrid was about 75 minutes which isnt great when the flight arrives at 22.00. This week was even worse BA-Barcelona and there was a 90 minute wait before luggage started to appear. This seems well beyond a joke and bordering on taking the piss. Was I unlucky, or is this typical Spanish airport service? Annoying as it marred an otherwise great trip.

Unlucky I'd say.

We are back and forward to Madrid a lot and usually bags are waiting when we exit immigration.

Although we do have to go through the manned booths as our boy is 8 - but conversely we usually get the quicker queues as wife is Spanish so we are generally allowed in the EU queue. So probably on a par with auto passport gates
