Hello,

Is there a difference in legibility/colour etc? Purchasing new screens and the options are for IPS gaming (high refresh) vs normal IPS. I have the same model of IPS screen already and the quality is really good - very clear, good colours viewable from all angles.

I need some more and they do them in a "gaming" version for around £40 more.

Worth it? I play the ocassional game so not sure if it's a benefit or not.

Many thanks in advance.

Purely from the specs it looks like the gaming version might be 25% brighter - most other things are the same.

The display is so good on the normal one I'm nervious of "upgrading" to the better gaming version and it actually looking worse.

I'll be buying online so can't just go into a store to check them out.

Many thanks.

The really significant difference is the maximum supported refresh rate - 75Hz vs 165Hz. Do you have a GPU that can drive a high refresh rate, and have you actually cared enough to set your current screen at 75 rather than the probably default 60 Hz?

Higher refresh rates give more fluid motion ( hence the appeal to gamers) at the cost of using a bit more electricity and being a bit more demanding on the graphics hardware to deliver.

They will be a different panel so will not exactly be the same.

resolution is the same. refresh rate is faster on the gaming one which will be a big difference. Only thing that will vary will be colour and brightness,

Gaming one has higher max brightness but not by a huge amount. Colour accuracy etc could be similar or entirely different.

To be honest it would be best looking at them as 2 completely different monitors. there's no real relevance between them in terms of if 1 is good the other must also be. If you have a price point, just look for some reviews of the best monitor at that point.

Refresh rate only makes a difference going backwards.

Going faster you don't notice it but the moment you drop back to 'inferior' tech it's like going back in time!

OP, if you are totally happy with the current monitor, why upgrade?
