I really want to watch the nightmare on elm street films and they are on the usa netflix.

I understand i need a vpn

Could someone explain to me in really simple terms exactly what i need to do?

Would i need a new netflix account? How does my tv acquire this vpn?

Excuse my ignorance, i am pretty backwards with this hehe

There are a few providers to choose from (google “vpn”). I’ve used Hide My Ass and Nord in the past. There are set up instructions on the respective websites. I wouldn’t bother with free ones.

Yep, I have Surfshark.

I have added it as an app on my Sony TV. Works very well. I use it to watch HBO / SkyShowTime subscriptions that I have in Portugal when in the UK / SA but it also works great for surfing different countries Netflix offerings.

Genuine newbie question:

Out of interest, how are the speeds on these paid VPNs like Surfshark, Nord, etc?

I've only ever (and very rarely) used free VPNs to access the odd content I can't otherwise, but the speeds were so terrible it was like having dial up again.

We are currently in Spain and use Nord on the laptop plugged into the TV (as modern casting doesn't work with one device on a VPN) and it's absolutely fine.

We do have gigabit fiber here though (for less than €10 per month!).

I've used both Nord and Express in Cyprus and Thailand, and was able to stream iPlayer and ITV player with no performance issues.
