Cant post there but doing a sort of update thread here as travel advice.

Currently beaches on the Atlantic side from scarborough down to brown's point are out of action since the oil spill.Since the shark attack, probably a bull shark (we've had them before in the buccoo area), the beaches on the caribbean side are closed from turtle beach down to sandy point, including pigeon point.

thats the SW of the island out of bounds as far as beaches go.

Most of the usual shark suspects are present in our waters but sightings of the range toppers has declined over the years. This attack was in shallow water and very close to shore resulting in extensive injuries. For such a tiny place our emergency care facility can be pretty good but this is not the kind of trauma they are experienced in.
