a relative died over xmas and the house has stood empty since , they've got a letter to a Chinese sounding name /that address confirming yes he has successfully opened a business at that address

what do we think is going on ? assume someone will credit stock to him then bailiff's come for the money somewhere down the road?

Inform company's house. From memory it's the start of a scam on someone if not you. Google it for more info. We had a stack of letters to one of our rentals.
