Any thoughts appreciated- currently have a Clarke 135te welder which I have for general use- kit car frames, fixing land rover bits etc and it's been absolutely fine.

Anyway, my dad passed away and I've inherited his murex tradesmix 130 which be bought new in 1987! It's a but battered but seems to work okay - apart from the power switch but I can fix that.

My question is that i dont need two welders and for small purpose jobs am I better off keeping the newer clarke or tidying up the murex and using that?

Any thoughts appreciated

If they both work ok for you but you only use them occasionally then perhaps keeping the one that takes up least room makes sense. Other than that the only other issue is obtaining spare parts.

The Murex will have a more robust wire feed and it has a euro-socket for the welding torch, although pragmatism does mean I agree that compactness and ease of storage can be important too. Which do you prefer using and gives the best weld?

The Murex has a - rather battered looking at the blue tape - euro torch.
Unless you've fitted a euro torch to your 135te I'd be inclined to carry out any repairs & keep the Murex.
I've got a Clarke 151EN (always used it with gas) & fitted an ebay euro conversion a few years ago.
Wish I'd done it sooner as it's much nicer to use & the improvement in weld quality is night & day.
