So when the lever is lifted up and down there js a very annoying squeak.its not catching on anything and the lever operates very smoothly.

Its a simple enough mechanism but wd40 has not silenced it, so I am thinking maybe some grease of some sort? I am not sure silicoln grease is right for metal on metal though.

Any thoughts as to what I could get from screwfix tomorrow or amazon prime?

Cheers.

They all do that mate biggrin

Put it in a different room? I don't think anything will last, it will just get burnt off.

Try PTFE spray - you can use it on other stuff like locks window hinges so it won't be wasted.

Break it into 3000 separate pieces and put it in the garbage hold.

I've just tried ours. It squeaks too. I can't say that I'd ever noticed it before. Try turning the radio up so you can't hear it.

As for the various grease/other lubes suggestions, I wouldn't bother. Strikes me you'll either set the kitchen on fire or give yourself and your family food poisoning.

Do you think it is the lever going through the spring loaded sleeve, the front of the sleeve against the case, or the hinge point causing the squeak? If it is the first two try some graphite which you can get from a pencil you might have lying around.

Edit: Ah just noticed you posted the solution whilst I was typing the above suggestion.

Thanks OP. I didn't realise it was a problem 'til I tried mine and now I can't tune it out.

At least I now know how to fix it.

Not until I've pointed it out to my wife first though......
