Hi all,

I'm thinking ahead to early June next year when we would like to take our little man away for the first time. He will be around 18 months old by then.

With this in mind, we are looking for a short flight time, say 3 hours tops, all inclusive preferably so we don't have to think about cooking or eating out too much, somewhere quiet(ish) and relaxing but that won't mind having a child around. Not after a screaming kiddie infested water park in the hotel sort of place but don't want to be tutted at for the boy making a bit of noise or splashing in the pool.

We haven't been away properly since way before covid and want 7-10 days of relaxing in the sun with preferably a local town to wander round and find a couple of nice meals out. Beach close by is a bonus.

I went to Croatia back in 2015 and thought it was great, like a cleaner version of Italy with similar food etc, so this is a contender.

From what I've read, Menorca seems to be a quiet place for families to go on holiday, never been keen on any of the Spanish islands I've visited in the past but we have seen one or two nice hotels here and also a villa which is very good value.

Sardinia looks nice but no personal experience.

Places I've discounted through previous mediocre or bad experiences/too long flight times are Portugal, Turkey and Bulgaria. Spent a lot of time in France and fancy somewhere different.

I love a Greek Island holiday and have been to a few so would be open to some recommendations based on a good quality all inclusive hotel.

Any recommendations much appreciated and I know its a bit of a boring one, not exactly an action packed adventure holiday but we really want it to be a good one.

Cheers

I saw your comment about Portugal but even so we had some lovely villa based holidays there when our children were young.
Menorca also when small and also went there with both sets of grandparents renting a huge farmhouse.
Menorca quieter than Portugal we found.

I was going to recommend France (until I saw that you discounted this) as it was our main go to place when the children were young. I was also going to recommend Portugal. The Adriatic coast in Italy or Lake Garda are certainly worth a look.

I’d be interested to know why your not keen on Bulgaria.

I'm not sure a relaxing holiday exists with an 18 month old.

If going all inclusive your budget will dictate how nice your surroundings are.

My son and his wife, just went to Singapore with thier.18 month old, and then Bali.
Singapore because that's where her parents are currently living, and Bali, because "it's only another 3 hours".

Sounded like a fking nightmare.

When he was 18 months we took our son to my parents caravan near Llanberis. 2 hours in the car was still too far. I bet he had a better holiday. Sun sea, castles, and the sea zoo.

Puerto Azul in Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca would be ideal.
