So I have 8 drugs that I take under the instructions of my consultant from the hospital.

My doctors surgery have decided to refuse me being able to repeat prescribe online as they want to review me??

Whilst mildly annoyed about this seeing as in the last month I've not only seen a fully fledged doctor I've also seen the practice nurse and also had a telephone appointment.

My consultant has also spoken on the phone and said nothing is to change we ll talk in 6 months.

So am I right to be annoyed or is this the thing now days of surgeries ignoring consultants wishes??

I've been on the same drugs now fir maybe 18 months, with regular 6 monthly chats with my consultant so I'm struggling to see what imput the practice nurse has over my consultant?

Which in my eyes is wasting my time and there's?.

Is it the surgery or a computer says no scenario? I have similar I got to request regular medication and it says no it needs a review, so I just submit a generic request saying its been reviewed by the consultant recently and you know that because they wrote to you. Someone then unblocks it and away we we go.

Believe me, I worked in the "Health" Service for 26 years.

Your ally here is your consultant.

It probably is NHS GP Surgery Computer says NO.

a) Google the med that "needs" review - find out what you can.

b) Contact you consultant's secretary and ask for help.

c) Then go back to your GP Surgery.

d) If still no resolution - letter to the Practice Manager copied to your registered GP. My practice now calls them - "Your usual GP!"

If you want to really understand what might be going on - Google - Defensive Medicine - It's the new improved NHS, don't you know.
If you do this be prepared for your blood pressure to rise which is probably one of the core goals.

Hope you get a positive resolution - If you do, tell us how you did it!

Sorry for the exclamation marks but they are relevant!

PS - Google med review and you will see that the GP can review your medication without you even being there.

i could go on but it's bedtime - Any questions, just ask

So as expected its a computer says no, but she's adamant that "they" haven't stopped my drugs.

I'm awaiting a call back now,

Computer said I'm due a review
Computer didn't let me know
Computer decided to stop them

I got her to go through my file amd the consultant letter reads as follows

Spoke to Cossy400 and after going through a few matters I've told him to carry on as normal and await me contacting him as one of his drugs is likely to change after the review has been finished, but I don't have an official time scale.

Drugs are on order.
