I am doing research and thinking of defecting from TVR. I was looking at G27s.

Can you buy roll bars for them? and RAC approved ones, or do you have to get one made up? Where can you get them…

Cheers

Depends whether your looking for a roll bar/hoop or full roll cage. Ginetta supplied twin roll hoops for the G27 but that car has now passed to GKD Sportscars www.gkdsportscars.com so they may be able to supply them.
If you want the full racing roll cage I would try the guys at Richmond Racing www.richmond-racing.co.uk for advice. They're always friendly and used to race a number of G27's.

Also thinking of G33's? If you're thinking of trackdays or competition, mine's coming up for sale soon!

Fereday cars are Ginetta specialists and Southern agents for the company. They've built many Ginettas and though I haven't bought from them I've seen a few of their cars at GOC meetings and they look to be good quality.

The earlier G27s had an integral rollbar - actually a "T-bar" construction.

See the owners' club sales section (www.ginetta.org/open/menu/open-index.html) where there's a very nice G27 V8 with just such a T-bar. (I'm a little biased because it's mine)

I'm happy to fill in any more info about G27s to help with your defection.

Well bit of a story now... might have something to do with my age (40!) I am afraid I didnt defect. I sat in some and I just couldnt feel right... meanwhile a 350 Tasmin I used to own come up for sale and I bought it back. At least I have a V8 though!!

Thanks for your help gents. Happy motoring.

See my web site for full rebuild of a Rover V8 powered G27 ( www.asgb29.dsl.pipex.com/ )

Awesome car absolutely awesome. Went quicker than a Griff but also stopped and handled like a Westfield. RIP now I`m afraid but what memories.
