With my other thread in mind whats the current best speed trap detector?!

Micropilot with LT400 remote looks good. Always wanted a remote garage door opener!

Does it have GPS as well?

I have a detector and TomTom - frankly TomTom is more useful!

TomTom on my Ipaq, bluetooth GPS and the checkpoint safety camera database. Works a treat and includes the mobile hotspots !

Any body tried the newer less expensive items -Talex and STHT (or something like that) at £80 and £150 respectively.
Any opinions on their effectiveness?
Frankly the new Road Angel didn't impress me on test as it doesn't tell current limit - in some places the limit changes and changes again with some reminder signs missing or hidden by foliage.

Slightly off topic, but what's the legality of the windscreen suction cup type mounts for these things. Only asking because i've seen these placed on the screen just to one side of the driver, making them nice and safe to view.

How does this stack up against the requirements of a clear view. The MOT says small chips aren't allowed within the swept area of the windscreen, so are you allowed to plonk a screen there?. And if not, where is the safest place to put detectors / sat-nav units?

I've got a TALEX lite, bought it in tesco. (£70)

No problems with it at all, except when you put it in safe driving / wife mode. Then it goes on at you a bit, but for sporring fixed and possible mobile sites I couldn't fault it last week on the run from Aberdeen to Dhver and back.

£25 PA for updates IIRC

If it saves me a 3 pointer this year, it's paid for itself, and then it's only a 3 pointer every 3 yrs.
