Hi

I need a hat block - if any of you dont know what this is prepare to be enlightened!

This is a block of wood thats used in the millinery trade for making the crown of a hat (yes we are now making hats as well as t'other wedding stuff!)they are usually made of wood and I'm not bothered what size it is. I am looking on ebay and I would consider buying new if I really have to but they are expensive.

Anyway if anyone sees one/has one (has to be of the rounded crown variety) and is prepared to part with it for between £20/£30 ish depending on condition please please let me know.

:D
cheers

Had an ask round at work and after the question "Whats a hat block - and why would you need one for the car" I got a universal "No"

[offtopic] As we have a smilie, why is there not a  one too ? [/offtopic]

aww thanks for asking Rich - I really wouldnt expect a bunch of coppers to know what a hat block is tbh! I knew it was a long shot but I just thought with the breadth of membership on this site someone somewhere just might know where I could get one/or even have one lying around - well you never know..... perhaps I should post this on the business forum..

Would a policemans helmet be too big - it would probably be tough enough and without the badges etc it would be the right shape

Isn't there a place that makes hats over near the York outlet somewhere? I'm sure I've seen it when out for a drive. They may be able to help, as long as you don't tell them it's for a competitor.
