I have to replace two mangled standard S1 wheels, and am thinking of swapping to victory wheels,
Car has lotus sports suspension on the 100/110 setting.
can I in the short term fit the standard 205 p'os to these wheels?
long term when i have the cash, want to fit 225 advan lts's, will these rub the bodywork?

I think the 225 should not be an issue.

Can't comment on the Victory wheels mind.

A quick call to a dealer would tell you.

Hmmm, that's exactly the setup I want.

Yes, people have had problems with that combination fouling the front wheelarch liner when on full lock and during hard or bumpy cornering, e.g. on track.

Just something to bear in mind when you're going into the hairpin, but personally I wouldn't let it stop me having that combination. I have the Advans, I want the wheels and then when I get into track days I'll do the suspension.

I asumed he meant 225 on the rear!

I thought the most you could put on the front would be 195.

Yes, advans are 225 rear and 195 front. The 195 fronts with lowered suspension can cause problems on full lock and compression.

I think I read somewhere that the way around that was to fit the adjustable front anti roll bar in conjunction with the sport suspension, thus reducing the body roll during cornering.

Its not just the wheel arch liners that can rub, but also the lip of the wheel arch itself, resulting in cracks in the clamshell. It happens when the front suspension is loaded, ie heavy braking, cornering on bumpy surfaces. Basically to get around it you need to run it a little higher, or fit stiffer springs, as sold by Race-Speed.com amongst others.

problem is that with the front advans, you might get it cracking the clam. you won't know until you fit them though as there seems to be a wide tolerance in frontclam builds. I have 325pound springs(front) and even these did not stop the frontclam rubbing, hence me changing to a MS frontclam (larger arches to fit dunlopRs)

thanks guys,so it sounds like the advans foul the front clam, even with advans on standard wheels?
The car does have an adjustable ARB, which may help.
Its basically the same set up on the 160 sport so I wonder how lotus get round the issue; I think a quick phone call to Lotus.
