I've noticed recently that in a number of first posts in new topics the URLs have been truncated (resulting in non-working links).

Is there some kind of magic code that is causing this? Subsequent posts in a thread seem to work as before.

Here is an example thread: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=109&t=219869

Oooh look, it has truncated the displayed URL but the link works.

But in this post, the URL is displayed in full: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=109&t=219869

I think it's Ted's hamsters trying to avoid huge URLs causing posts to be wider than the page and screwing up the formatting.

Don't know why it's just the first post though.

Correct. It's a crude method at the moment but I'm working on a slicker parser.
