Sure they weren't just doing a traffic survey ? Saw something similar a few weeks ago which seemed to involve a few old biddies, some clip-boards and a couple of garden chairs. Still, gets them out of the house....

The thing on last nights Tonight Program about Speed Cameras had a "civvy" in the back of a old bill van (with orange lights) working a laser with camera so I guess so.

that doesnt sound like such a bad thing, were not going to gert rid of cameras, so at least the real cops are out catching crims and not wasting resources sitting in a van eating donuts

They'll probably be worse because you'll be speeding on their doorstep - as a result, they will inhabit this righteous moral high ground in any discussions you try to have with them.

mate got nicked by one of these in Wales - nabbed him at 99mph. (6pts 500 quid) Apparrently they don't need a police van - the cops give them a laser and a 1 day 'how to nick em' course and off they go. The people involved are 'volunteers'. Don't know about you but volunteering to nick other members of the public probably means you live on the moral high ground already. (and read the daily mail) They don't stop you either just nail as many people as they can apparrently.. Keep your eyes peeled for white vans on bridges.
