I am going mad trying to source some good road legal track day tyres for my Cerbera. Have been using Dunlop SSR's for the last year, they are superb but are now discontinued!

Second choice is Michelin Pilot Sport Cup, but research has indicated there not available until Spring, but my ideal sizes are'nt really an option!

Dunlop have suggested the D01J, but it looks a bit severe, & will be very noisey for road use, i still want to use the car for Sundays!

My research has suggested the Hankook rs2, or the Kumho V70A, what do you guys reckon, i really am in the dark now.

Many thanks for your help with this one, now that i have tasted 'trackday' rubber, i cant go backwards, i'm sure you know what i mean

I am running on 18" wheels by the way!

Yoko 32's or 48's are the nuts and have you murdering most things with the grip - if you can get in your size.

Suspension will need to be stiff to get best out of them though.

Try Toyo 888, yokohama A048R (nice and sticky), Goodyear Eagle F1 (friend of mine has these on his 400+bhp RX7 and they last ok)

Have you considered the Pirelli Corsa tyres?

kumhos are good, but wont last long..mine were illegal on the road after two track days.

Plus they are a bit pricey in 18s.

Pirelli Corsas might be an option...Ive heard the wear rate is fairly good. Not cheap either though, but less than the Michelins

Tyre choice is a huge issue for Evos. There are pages devoted to discussing replacements for the OEM Yokohamas, which are not E marked so cannot be sold in this country. Every replacement tyre seems to be a compromise.

The Yoki A048s are supposed to be pretty good track tyres, although a bit of a handful in the wet.

What are the sizes you require - I'm sure there's a good range of 18" rubber out there as I was looking for my M5, until I settled on using 17" wheels for the track.

The Dunlops may have been discontinued, but you may very well find a few places with them still in stock. The Kumhos are quite good as well, so are the Avon ZZR (no other Avon tyre is any good though), and the Toyo R888's are highly regarded by some.

Have you tried www.camskill.co.uk/

Drop me a note with the sizes and I can give you a price on the Dunlops and Toyo R888's if you like.

Thanks guys, really useful.

Toyo r888's, not available in my sizes til next year!

Yokohama AO48R's look good, sizes pretty much ok, but rears are £190 + vat & fitting!

Sizes are proving to be the issue, realistically, i cant go any bigger than 225x40 front, & 255x35 rear. The problem also is that the quoted size often differs from the actual inflated dimension, so i face the possibility of wheel arch catching the tyre edge, ( a 265x35x18 Yoko AO48 tyre is 272mm wide, & there aint much space in my wheel arch!)

Boy does this get confusing.

What is the consensus on AO48R's then?

Cheers again chaps

cirvy - mail me via my profile (or maybe you have my mail address can't remember). I've some old Michelin Cups from the Cerbera with a fair bit of wear on you can try. 225/40/18 and 235/40/18 basically all that will fit the Cerbera and worked well for me! They're sitting in my garage taking up space at the moment!

Fancy bringing it down to Bedford Autodrome on Saturday and trying them out?! You'll need ACT silencers though (got a set of them still boxed too!!)

Just thinking about it, arent the 'R' spec tyres Yokohama do only for track use, I.E. not road legal? I could be wrong though.

As for the 48R's, they're good until they overheat (yes i know all tyres are like that) and i know of racers finding them going off after just 10 laps.

48's are road legal. Takes a lot to get them going off after 10 laps!

32's an 48 Road legal - but usually after one or two races (or maybe one track day - alot more laps even though not pushed as hard as in a race) they are below leagl limit - but good for loads more races! Designed like that.....
