SE Chargecooler Alternator

Does anyone know if the alternator was used on a more common car.
Alternatively does anyone have the manufacturers product code as the number on mine has worn off.
Any info on the alternator and /or its components would be greatly welcomed. ASAP

It is a Valeo of French origin. That make is used in a variety of vehicles including some makes of VW's, Audi's etc. It is much cheaper to rebuild the item at an auto electric shop. It cost me $40 USD when I did mine last year. One place quoted me $200 USD when he asked what it came out of. At the place where I had it repaired they did not ask what car it came from and the result we $40.

The problem is in the UK I have tyaken the alternator to 4 different re-conditioners and the code number on the side of the unit does not appear in any of their parts catalogues so they cannot order the correct parts.

My BMW has a valeo alt.

$40 that is a good deal. The best price I found was $70. Did they rebuild it to stock or did they up the amps.

Yes I was suprised by the $40 USD. In by 10am and out by 3pm. The shop was recomended by one of the local Lotus Guru's and they did an excellent job. They rebuilt it to stock which is a bit lacking as I have more than a few eletronic accesories. The shop did suggest that I switch to a different dia. pulley and that would crank the output by making it spin faster. It was a fix that a few of the Japanese cars did when the Valeo they used had low output at the Valeo chat site when researching when my alt went belly up and died. A project in the near future as I will need extra power as I plan on using bullet cams, a quad matrix screen to display 4 camera views at once and a recorder to video tape when I go driving.
