Car design....is there anything new under the sun?
Discussion
Not sure whether many PH-ers out there would have been part of this, but back in the 60's, there was a scheme running around many schools called 'The Vauxhall Craftsmen's Guild' whose aim was to encourage budding designers to submit ideas for concept vehicles.
From my recollections of the time, (yeah, I know!) many designs in reports we received bore a remarkable resemblance to many cars you see on the roads now, particularly the small mpv-style cars (you know, Civic , Xsara, etc,.). Perhaps these designs were hidden away waiting for the right time?

If it makes you feel better honey I'm still using one of your sketches as a hood ornament at work, helps brighten the place up a treat

Hi Rich...(another child of the 50s ) but do you also see the similarity with current computer-aided designs and those drawn up by the likes of you and I ?

For the (very reasonable) cost of hiring a decent designer at the start of a project yuor product can be attractive with no further increase in cost. Why aren't all products (cars, bottletops, anything) attractive? I just don't understand.
Is the site up yet? Which companies are interested?
Holy thread revival! I just found this!!
I got the entry forms twice, but never completed the seemingly daunting task of designing building and finishing a model for submission.
I have found this post Flikr from the same period.
