love the way the arches on these replicas hang right out. Blinding.

And to think £25k buys you a decent 348, an early Noble, or an Audi/Honda engined Elise. Its a toughy.

I'm tempted to phone him and offer him a swap for 'an exquisite replica Ford Gran Torino'

if you can find someone willing to part with it.

A mere seven for sale in Autotrader but might just be able to wait at any rate. What a clown.

I seriously am amazed as to how these people dream up such asking prices. £25k will get you two 308 GT4s, or, if you look hard enough, three Mondial 8s. I can appreciate that it obviously took a lot of time and effort, but it really isn't worth that price - what planet is he on?

It's as bad as the laxxers who think they will gain a few extra quid by advertising their chavved-up Escorts on Ebay as 'FORD ESCORT COSSIE 'RELPICA' NOT FERRARI PORSCHE LAMBOURGEENY, and setting the reserve price at that of a real one, to reflect their 'efforts'.

I remember stumbling across a garage in Abersoch that specialised in turning MR2s into 'Ferraris'. There was a bloke who looked like a right chav - sportswear, bling, trainers the lot - who zoomed around in this awkward-looking yellow MR355 thinking he looked like the local boy-made-extremely-good.

Problem was, all the other onlookers seemed to think it was a Ferrari

a chap i know used to build these things to make a bit of easy cash, he started off with pontiac fieros, then went on to the MR2 based kits. he's not done them for a couple of years, and he was regularly getting £12-£15k for them (with the build costing about half of that). fair do's to him though, he put a lot of effort into them, and the standard was pretty good, so much so, the manufacturers of the kit used to borrow his car for pics for the brochure.

some of the engineering involved was a bit suspect, on the MR2 kit, to get the rear wheels to fill the arches, they supplied a massive steel spacer, about 8" long, and 6" in diameter....it weighed a ton, and god knows what it did to the life of your wheel bearings or dampers!

i was just going to comment on how forlorn it looks:
http://myferrariproject.tripod.com/f40/id9.html
i think it should be put out of it's misery!

i won't slag off the workmanship or whatever (from pics) the build doesn't look too bad, what i don't understand is why if these peopl ehave the skills they don't use them to design a body for an ugly kitcar or something like that, they may even be able to make a business by doing that - things like this are just naff..

A rough TR7 done up to look like an F40 I can understand, it's cheap and it's a laugh, along the lines of Bomber Dentons Capri. But when it comes to trying this hard at this price level, nope, these folks are idiots, you could buy a mint MR2 for a fifth of the price, or even a real Ferrari.
