As soon as the specs cameras were pulled down from the roadworks near Knutsford on the M6 they seem to have been teleported onto the M62 near the roadworks at junction 9. The first camera on the west bound is in the 70mph zone. It looks like the roadworks will be expanding and it will become 50 but its anyones guess as to whether its live at the minute set on a 70+ limit.... Just keep an eye out for them..

I wouldn't argue about their use in roadworks - it's a good idea. If they start using them to monitor us as we drive about, I fear for our democracy, since Big Brother really will have arrived!!

Yeah I agree in the roadworks when the guys are working... but imagine when specs works more as a network like the trafficmaster and you are timed between say two sets of roadworks on the same motorway... That will be bad ****!

nubbin, see 'write to tony' I disagree as stated on the above thread from my experience of this over a period of time .....the speed limit of 40mph is unrealistic, 50mph is safe, not coma inducing and wont make a rats ass difference to a worker being hit (the primary role of the speed enforcement is for their safety after all) I have seen other situations where speed limit signs of 50mph were placed without cameras and people were responsible enough to play ball.... Now slip on the revenue earning hat and consider the best way of making some wonga out of all this and still fool some people into believing 'it's all about safety'. First, enforce an uncomfortably low speed limit, then space the bloody things far enough apart for people to fall in to a false sense of security and then for good measure hide them behind bridges or other signs....oh, I forgot about all those handy power oulets all over the flyovers, I must be getting cynical in my dotage....just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean...mumble mumble Edited by apache on Tuesday 7th August 20:16
