What's it all about?

I''m fairly new to TVR''s and thought I might invest in a little licence preservation, but what''s it all about? I know I could read the whole forum but could somebody give a brief run down on what''s on the market to detect speed cameras, how they work, how effective are they and are they leagal. The whole jargon thing is very confusing, whats a SPECS?

Best bet is the www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk site they section it all off nicely and you can look up the different stuff at your leisure, they also do independant tests on all the detection/gps/counter measure stuff, and give the run down on most stuff in the plods arsenal. For my money I bought a Geodesy unit and swear by it but each to their own.
