Can anyone tell me if they have one of the above cars with the 138/143 bhp 2.0i Petrol engine fitted. I am somewhat surprised at the fuel consumption that I am getting from this engine in or C4.

Whilst I know then engine is still new and hopefully will improve with age, I am a bit dissapointed to have had 25 MPG out of first tank of fuel. The 2nd tank is currenttly giving around the top end of 27 MPG (Again not brilliant).

Hi there, these motors (EW10J4) arent the best on fuel, we get a few complaints on this with 307s, but around 30 mpg is good on one of these to be honest.

Give the C4 another tankfull and it should improve, mind having said that, the MPG computers in the 307s are shite

cheers

Try the old tank method, brim to brim and divvy out for your MPG.

My 2.0 Pug engine averages 29-30mpg, but it's a lighter smaller car. Check your tyre pressures too, the new big wide wheels they bung on cars now can be quite inefficient if underinflated, especially noticeable on a moderately powered car!

If it's new it'll loosen up, but it does sound a bit naff for a modern engine!

Actually I must now amend the record. The car has now completed 500 miles and is returning 30 MPG. All in all I will be quite happy with that sort of economy as the car is quite sprightly. Obviously I would like to think that when it ventures onto the motorway we will see some good economy.

Have got a 2.0hdi and the consumption was pretty grim first off but have done 2000 miles and it's not bad will do 38-40mpg round town at 30mph and will do 65 on the motorway. Based those on taking the fill up and mileage done rather than the computer (having said that the comp isn't too far off).

Glad you MPG is on the way up, I got a Xantia with a 2 litre turbo engine and get 25Mpg on a good day (60 in the diesel one!) I keep hopping it will improve with age, but at 150,000 mile I think I'm clutching at straws!!!!
