Quick question for all the cops on here

If you were giving chase or attending an emergancy would you travel at 159mph of would you back off a bit to maybee 120 or 130mph?

is it safe to persue a veh at them speeds bearing in mind turbulance from the car infront, side winds etc or would you back right off and get the choppers out?

It all depends on the road conditions.

Once a pursuit is started its a lot safer to leave it to the Parafin Parrot and ease off a tad until they bail out, crash or in an ideal world run out of petrol. (I must be mellowing as its nearly Christmas)
I remember travelling around the M25 at 160 at 3 in the morning with 2 other people ín my car and it was like driving to a video game. Its surprising how fast the world goes by and how much of the road you use to maintain this sort of speed.

After a short while you exit the slip road and you feel like youre doing 40mph but you are still doing over a ton.

Its not easy at that speed and you do need 110% concentration or else you can easily be made to look a fool.

Edited to say i was in a T5R Saloon

At that time in the morning and at that speed, do you use full beams and blues and twos, and if so does this not obscure your line of vison having flashing lights infront of you reflecting of signes, wet road surface, numberplates etc

What type of 'job' is it you are going to be doing? Youve given away you are gonna be doing it in the middle of the night, but I would certainly recommend a getaway car with a better top speed than 159!

I think the trafpol cars will keep up with that!

I would hope this golden rule on the use of speed is foremost in the mind of BIB:

Remember, that a Police Officer must never ne involved in an accident. NO POLICE CALL is so urgent as to justify an accident. It is far better that a criminal should escape for the time being than that the crew of a Police Car and other road users should be exposed to grave risk of injury.

That and other rules drilled into me whilst on Traffic (22yrs out of 30) and hey, I'm still here and never hurt or killed anyone.....

At that speed it would be blues only if there was a requirement for them as the sirons are pretty much inneffective over say 50mph.
(there is no point really on motorways if there is no traffic about for blues and headlamp flash)

Bear in mind Tony was driving a Traffpol car with strobes in the grills and wings maybe which may well eliminate the need for headlamp flash.

Remmeber emergency equipment is only sposed to be used if it was needed and does not need to be on for immediate driving.

Nice car! From what you wrote before, its not one of the ones that were stolen from the factory last year is it?

I would suggest a 'break for the border' on Christmas Day night.

At about 3am, as you say!

Seriously though, how have you found it? After selling my Tuscan, it is one of the only cars I am interested in. I realise it is not the most practical car in the world, but how have you found the reliability and service so far?

We are taught not to use Headlamp flash on Motorways during darkness.
It is ineffective and scary to drive at fast speed with headlamp flash on. One minute you can see, the next you cant.

Don't forget that on some motorways, M62 being one from memeory, that the max design speed of bends is 90mph. Significantly faster and all three lanes needed ..... allegedly. :ahem:

No crossing over to the other carriageway to open up the view, then?
