New track day show for April

Rockingham hosts event for trackdayers

A new track day show has been announced for Sunday 30 April 2006 at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Northants -- the first of its kind.

Organiser Ian Raybould of Trackdays.com said: "There are car shows and there are motorsport shows, but this one is totally focussed on track days, track day and performance products and driving experiences.

"It will cater for people who want to find out more about track days as much as it will for experienced track-users. The common factor is that the visitors to the event are proven spenders who do or want to spend on enhancing their car, their driving experiences or their driving ability.

"There will be static stands, but, crucially, there will be live action in which visitors get to try their hand at driving a range of cars on track under the guidance of qualified instructors.

"But perhaps the most crucial aspect is that there are far more potential track day enthusiasts than racers - and that means more potential income for the automotive industry from what is becoming a fast-growing consumer market."

The static exhibitors will include performance, modifying and tuning specialists, plus a wide range of automotive trade suppliers and manufacturers.

The on track action will include opportunities for visitors to drive a BMW M3, Lotus Elise or MINI Cooper S, plus demos and displays by manufacturers and tuners. High-speed passenger rides will be also be on offer.

Then you look up the prices and see it's £100 for 15 minutes in an M3. Or £69 for 15 minutes in a shopping car. Or someting equally ridiculous for 10 minutes in a supposed offroader.

£89 for 15 minutes in the Elise! Seems a bit steep to me.

Still, I'll be there!

Expensive for 15 minutes but you don't have to go on track if your just looking for some bits to spec up your track car !
