As I write this thread, courtesy of PDA Xda unit, I'm sitting in my cold car in the middle of the Berkshire countryside, having filled my BMW 330D with 12 gallons of premium unleaded!

I'm currently waiting for the AA to arrive!

I'm cold, bored, irritated and embarrassed!

Did you try to start it? I understand things get markedly more expensive if you have.

It's easily done, especially after work, on a cold, dark night, when all you want to do is go home.

This is why I fill up in the morning, when at least some of my (admittedly few in number) brain cells are still active. Plus, the pretty girl at my regular filling station only works mornings.

I would call you a prat but I filled TWO motorbikes with diesel at the start of a run down to Italy in the summer.......very embarrassing isn't it?

Just out of interest again, which company was it? Or was it a small independant station?

I did this just over a year ago in my 2002 Mondeo. Only I put in about 15% petrol 'cos I stopped after only about 8 litres and filled up the rest with diesel. Then having driven 30m to a place of safety - off the forecourt - the RAC advised me not to drive any more despite 15% "probably" being insufficient to do any harm. So they towed me to my local Mr Clutch where £100 lighter and down on 60 litres of fuel, I was able to carry on home. I did feel a tit!

I'm on the A339 near Newbury, I'm on my way to the Marriott at Milton Keynes!

Filled it up with premium unleaded right to the brim! Apparently I'm gonna be towed to somewhere they can dump the fuel.

I've just been told that they'll arrive at 6:40, which is nearly TWO hours. Pain in the AR$3.
