Yes, if to abide by the speed limits might have hampered him in the performance of his duties, blues and twos optional.

When they're doing that sort of speed with no blues on, apparently, it's ok to maintain a distance of around a car length from their back bumper and use them as a motorway clearing device (Moses style) for the remainder of your journey.

I might be mistaken, though

I think it's quite fun - I was on the M8 late at night a while ago when I was overtaken very swiftly indeed by a marked traffic car who I estimate to be doing about 130mph(ish), it was quite exciting actually! I thought: that guy's having fun as I recalled all the times i'd done over 130mph on that stretch obviously I hoped that it was nothing more serious than 'testing' the vehicle that was the reason for such haste rather than an RTA

Sirens not very effective at that speed -- usually just have lights on if they need to make progress through traffic.

But then most of the lane-three sitters I've seen are a bit surprised to see something appear at 130-150 in their rear view mirror (yeah - like they look in it).

If they have got blues and twos on are you still allowed to follow through?

Its not really scary enough for that! I would have thought the best scenario would be to wait until a service station to relieve yourself. Each to his own though!

No warning devices, eh...?

So 130 is safe then..........?

Good, thought so.

The justification for illegality is that it's unsafe.....
