Oh man, I am really sorry to hear about that.

Fingers crossed they can track the Galaxy down and do him for it.

Cheers

It isn't as bad as I first thought, first of all I thought it was the end of the world :S

Hopefully it is just the front bumper, I can't see any damage on the wing etc

Does anyone know if it will be reasonable easy for a Vauxhall dealer to get parts to repair it? I will take it in on Monday to get it looked at, but, worried that it might take a while to get parts...

Bearing in mind that the part that has been damaged would probably be the most commonly damaged part, I would hazard a guess that they would hold stock of these somewhere in the UK.

Keep us updated as to the tracing of the wr in the Galaxy 'cause we can then all go round there and give him a good shoeing

Most parts are kept in stock and should only take a couple of days to get.

Oh good, my baby can be back to new quickly hopefully (depending on how much the insurance company drags their heels)

That's f**ked up. I understand the pain of seeing your baby like that.

I have a brand new wooden baseball bat which I didn't use at Lance Owen Heathrow. Let me know when you get the address of the galaxy owners so I can break it in!

bacv8 - Did you tell the guys at Lance Owen about this site and what was being said about them? What did they say?
I'm still worried about letting them loose on my VXR for the servicing. What do you think?

hainser - Nice VXR buddy - now why didn't I stump up the extra for the VXR? Oh well..

I didn't tell the dealer about this forum. Whether he knows about it or not I don't know.

I don't have any major complaints about the mechanical servicing aspects of my dealership and the service staff are nice and know me by name (my car's been with them probably about 8 times since I bought it but that's another story). The dealer manager also seemed genuinely concerned and eager to put the car right. I haven't got the car back yet though so the jury's still out.

The worst aspect is the parking - see the latest in my original post 'Hi Everyone and tale of Woe' for comments on that. I do wonder though if anyone, rather than my 'I don't have any major problems' comment, has stories of great service from a dealer and would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Greens of Rainham and Picador's from my experience and I believe othes up in North Wales/NW have been very positive about there experience with their local dealers.

I live pprox 1.5 hours from the nearest of any of these and because work takes in those directions occassionally I would rather plan ahead and use one of these dealers than my local based on experience.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Apologies if I took this thread off topic - see my original post 'Hi Everyone and Tale Of Woe' for the latest on this.

GSI Daz please let us know how things progress with your car repair and tracking the c*** who hit you.

I just thought I would update you on this accident and also hopefully help others out that find themselves in a similar situation.

I have spoken to the police today, they are saying that the Galaxy driver is claiming that his car was broken down on that date with a knackered engine and that he couldn't possibly have been involved in the accident. My two witnesses (four really as they were couples) were contacted by the police, one of them has responded giving full details of the accident to the police but also saying that they have not got the registration of the vehicle. The other witness has sadly not responded. I am now left in a situation where the police are unable to prosecute the <sensored> driver as they cannot get independant confirmation of the vehicle. Lesson #1 - Ensure that all witnesses have written down and retained registration details.

Similar situation with the insurance company. They have a statement from the witness including a description of the Galaxy but again no registration. They are now going to send him another letter giving him 7 days before taking this to court. I do have the registration written on a piece of paper by the witness and it seems that even though this is acceptable to the courts the police will not take any notice of it.

As it stands I could end up losing the £500 excess and also my no claims bonus. The really annoying thing is that in my car I had a digital camera, if only I would have had the sense to have taken a picture of the other car!! Lesson #2 - If you have a camera - USE IT!

Hopefully this will be of use to someone, looks like I am going to have a struggle here, but if it helps someone else out then some good has come from it.

Actually, I'm fairly sure that DIGITAL photo's are not acceptable as they can be "doctored"

Best solution is one of those throw-away cameras kept in the glove box, with pen, paper etc

Post an ad in the local paper asking if anyone saw the accident and keep a copy as proof, you could be quite 'amazed' at who comes forward, if you catch my drift.....
