The recent frosty cold weather appears to high light a problem with the effectiveness of the heated door mirrors.
Mine do not appear to be powerfull enough to de-frost or take ages!
Has anybody else noticed this on a 05 Monaro?
The heated rear screen does work but again appears a bit slow, but not as slow as the door mirrors!
Any advice appreciated.

They aren't Wide Angles either - Can they be obtained, if so, at what price

<edit> It's a bit more important for me now that I've had my rear windows tinted

leads into another Aussie cultural lesson... (urban myth maybe??)
Heated mirrors not needed down under & neither are rear window demisters but as legend has it, back in the olden days of the fledgling Aussie car industry the Ford & Holden boys shared a few things to keep costs down & the Holdens ended up inheriting rear window demisters from Ford - they were only provided in F**D's to keep yr hands warm while you pushed them!
(sorry... been a long day!)

lol I thought they had heated mirrors as well. Now where did I put that manual? Someone yesterday mentioned the amp in the boot can be adjusted - I had no idea there was an amp in the boot! Definately time to RTFM.

FAO Wells_Fans not sure but this might be how you adjust boot amp

http://kb.ls1gto.com/KB/article.aspx?id=10013&cN

Q10013 - HOWTO: Adjust Subwoofer Gain

1. Open your trunk. Remove the liner covering your spare tire. Look at the liner to your left held by 4 or 5 plastic tabs. Remove the tabs and lift up the liner. You don't have to remove the liner directly in front of you covering the gas tank .

2. You will now see 4 screws in 4 holes. Two of the screws may be partially hidden by wires. Loosen but do not completely remove the screws. Once loose, you can use your left hand to grab the black box behind the wall and lift it up to release out of the 4 holes.....

3. You do not need to take the amp out, I left the first part of the instructions so you have a good idea of where its at. You can reach around to the front of the amp (side towards the front of the car) and adjust the gain. The picture will help show you which way to adjust it.

Thanks for that. Really appreciate it. Something to experiment with at the weekend I think.

I'd be interested in a wide angle drivers door mirror too. I imagine the Pontiac GTO has a wide angle suitable. Is this the case?

I'm off to Daytona (for the 500 ) next month, I will take a "profile" of my driver's mirror and nip down to Pontiac Dealer to see what they have.
