I would encourage you to read through a lot of this Tuscan forum (as well as the T350/Sagaris/Tamora and Speed Six forums) as there are basically most answers to the questions you have already asked there. A recent posting...

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=235705&f=5&h=0

was also from a new member and covered quite a bit of what you need to be aware of.

I would strongly advise only buying one that still has a TVR warranty. I recently bought an 03 car with 10,000 on the clock. so far it's cost me nearly 7,000 for an engine rebuild and elictrical fault.... also beware of a warranty in the name of warranty holdings, they've gone bust... I got caught on that one as well... By the way if you want an 03 Tuscan S with two year factory warranty just having had a full rebuild mines for sale.....

£7000 for a re-build?

Who did the re-build and what did it require? No help from the factory?

cheers

Arran - I had mine rebuilt in Aug 2005 (fortunately just in warranty), but am interested to learn how you secured a 2 yr warranty? I have only 1 yr to the best of my knowledge,

Nige - contrary to other contributors, I bought a 2002 Tuscan 4.0 about one year ago, it has now done 18K miles and has had no problems at all. Engine/gearbox/clutch all running fine.
Do your homework, ask lots of questions' look at lots of cars and see how the owner drives the car from cold.

nige, i have had three now, over 15,000 miles and only a slave cylinder has been replaced, apart from servicing that is. Oh servicing can cost as little as £600.00 up to £1,200 it depends where you take it main dealer or indi.

I wouldn't really say they're cheap - there are only a few out there for under 20K (mine included ), but when you consider they're over five years old and some tuscans are approaching 6 years old, they've taken a fair old time to depreciate to under half they're original cost. i.e. what I'm saying is if you compare similarly priced boxter S', BMW M3's, from around 2000 / 2001 they have lost a similar if not greater part of their original value than the Tivvers. However, 20K is still a great deal!

being done by TV, the original quote was through Kerridges in essex... do not use them!! Now looking at at lot less (3>4.5k) through tvr power, got it shipped up there... good old AA... now it's just time to wait... 3 to 5 weeks... then we'll see if she can convince me to keep her!

I would say quite the opposite when compared to the prices of used T350's and in particular Tamora's.

Do you mean that T350's and tamoras are cheap for their age / mileage?

Can you move the pedals forward on a Tuscan?

The pedals can be moved to one of three positions, but I belive it's not an easy job.

Only thinking, not setting anything in stone as life is too unpredictable to plan anything at the mo, plus I'd need to clear the garage out...
Remove the 996 from mine and there's already room I'm just at the pontificating and cogitating stage. Probably buy something sensible in the end again.

I'd only move 'em once lol! Also, can the roof AND the rear screen both fit in the boot- if so, is there much space left, and do they have bags to stop them getting scratched?

Pedal box moving takes C2hours Gaz. Roof and screen fit in the boot plus 2 weeks luggage for cruising the south of France with a dolly of your choice.

Screen has a bag, roof doesn't. I've never scratched either in either tus.

Just do it. You know you want to.

OK well ive had the tuscan since thursday and i am loving it lol its seems very dangerious lol spins like crasy and is a bit of a handfull but i love it all the same.Defo a good buy ive managed to clock up 250 miles that does include 150 collecting. Now time to leave her to rest for awhile ive had soo much fun in her tho lol.Im used to turbo cars so the low down torque is absolutly amasing but in reality she is a great fast car but i think hard to get her going unless the sun is blasing and roads are hot hot hot.Im quite young aswell and had a lot of older guys giving me grief lol i had some 40 year old give me the bird already lol but most just upmost respect for the car i think i might invest in a balaclava to hide my age lol (spelling)

Be careful in this weather Nige. Theres a hell of a lot of power going through those rear wheels and when it's greasy (nad even more so icy) it can turn round and bite you.
