Hi All,

Just to let you all know I finally collected my Beast today from Slater's in Colwyn Bay. So far the car is very very different to my previous cars - mainly clutch and gear change will take some time to get used to.

I have a strange issue, which I noticed when I collected it - the drivers stainless steel kickplate has a Pontiac logo on it and the passenger has a vauxhall logo on it. Very odd, anyway Slater's are going to order me a new kickplate, however, the garage is 110 miles away from home (so will cost a fortune in fuel to resolve).

Is there a simple way of just removing the logo rather than the whole kickplate ?? Maybe, someone has replaced the Vauxhall for the Holden logo knows ??

Anyway, I am loving driving it at the moment and look forward to finish bedding it in (which will be an age as I only drive 15 miles a day).

Cheers
Steven

A pair of Holden ones costs about $100 if that. I assume you mean the metal panel on the door sill?
I would say it should be replaced under warranty. They are acutally stuck on with double sided tape.

Hi,

I was kind of hoping just the logo can be replaced - it does look like a modular kickplate with the button type logo sitting in the middle. Just a pain having to drive all the way at back when they unglue the full kickplate and glue a new one on.

My VXR came without any kick plates at all! Kick plates were supplied soon afterwards and also a pair of badges, tho' as it turned out, the plates already had them on! so I have a spare set if you get stuck, but they are obviously available separately, so your dealer should be able to get one and stick it in the post for you.

Hi SkyBlue465,

Thanks for that sounds like the badges can be removed separately then - good news. I will discuss it further next week with the sales guy whom is already sending me some touch up paint (just incase).

Cheers

Cant remove badges from kick plates, but, as is a warranty claim. Your nearest dealer should be able to sort fitting and ordering etc.

Hi Caspy,

Doh - thats bad news, suppose it can wait for a while then. I would much prefer a Monaro dealer to do the job, just incase they think oh a Monaro lets test it out !!

Sorry Caspy, gonna have to disagree with you, I have a new set of kickplate badges right here in my hand and they ARE self adhesive with a central square peg for location, (not clipped or glued)

The badges in the centre of the kick plates can be removed by carefully prising out with a 6" steel rule. I swopped the plates complete for Holden badged ones only to realise after that the badges are removable without having to remove the complete plate.

Are they Holden or Vauxhall badges ??

I'd be interested in a pair of Holden badges, to restore a Monaro to its proper Holden name.

The one's I have are Vauxhall badges. On the subject of badge changing from Vauxhall to Holden, it's only a personal thing, but I reckon anyone who matters knows it's a Holden and it seems a virtually impossible,(expensive!) task to change I.D. entirely anyway, think about it, apart from numerous badges, you've then got cam cover,...dash readout,....seats! (VXR) and if you don't go the whole hog, what you end up with is neither one thing or another.
I just added a couple of subtle HSV decals to the side sills to hint of the origins.
Lotus Carlton drivers always wore/wear thier Vauxhall badges proudly! (er...o.k., apart from the Opel ones, s'pose they changed thier badges!)

Dash readout is a bummer, although pretty sure there are guys who can change it.

Engine cover is in the bin, and other badges are sorted.

And it is purely a personal thing.

Doesn't rebadging also affect insurance? I seem to remember that back in the 90's some insurance companies refused to pay up on cars that had been rebadged.
