Discussion
Just came through them myself this morning. Don't know if they're operational, but people were panic braking by the gantries presumably because they didn't understand.
Also lots of people were tailgating presumably to hide up behind the van in front.
Does anyone know if they're switched on yet?
I'd be really interested in knowing how many tailend shunts happen while they're there, compared with the average non-speed-policed roadworks.
Also, where do I read the reports for accident numbers in roadworks where speed cameras are put in compared with where they are not? There must be quite a large body of research somewhere done to make sure the figures are being improved, right?

I saw these too; on blue gantries both ways in lane 1/2 - with the signage "Average Speed Detection", but it was dark so hope got away with it! Roadworks look like they're gonna be there for sometime.
On Q103 this morning they said 40mph limit boths ways until end of May - resurfacing work.
