Just found this question asked over on the P/H general gassing forum under the best car at V.W. topic posted by Williamp

"Apart from that lovely red Aston V8, and the green V8, and the Charger, and the Bristol, I would go for one of the supercharged Holdens/ Vauxhall Monaros. Now, if someone can please explain the differences between the two supercharger types used, and which one's best then I will have a winner." Williamp

De Tomaso Longchamps got my vote on the day.

Not techie enough to describe the differences of blowers, mine is a Vortec & Greg's is a whipple type?

The Vortec produces about 22 psi, some of it lost, some used to spray oil in the sump, 8 psi currently, plenty of 'air' on hand to increase it to 12 psi which hopefully I will be doing this Thursday.

I think the Whipple type can produce more low down torque & power & the Vortec more at the top end, expect to be shot down in flames now. Wortec provide the Harrop blower which might be your best option all things considered, no need for an intercooler either from what little I know, more of a 'bolt on' scenario.

The "Harrop" charges which have been fitted in the UK do have a very efficent intercooler/chargecooler set up.

They have a air to water cooler mounted at the front of the car with another water to air cooler mounted under the supercharger..............

Whether you have centrifugal, positive displacement or turbocharged a intercooler/charge cooler will give cooler air thus making more power.
