This forum is a passionate place. As performance vehicle enthusiasts we find ourselves openly and increasingly targetted and restricted by a Government that sees us as an evil irrelevance. The legislators set the agenda and direct the Police as their enforcers. It is a bit of an anachronism that many of the Police are both enthusiasts and are passionate about their jobs. We have some highly valued Police as members in this forum who pass on invaluable advice and experience. Make your point, and make it with passion, but do not abuse the Police. They do not make the law or set the agenda and they are here as enthusiasts to help. Anybody directing abuse at the BiBs on here will be binned and, in extreme cases, banned.
I'll second that.
Being an 'enthusiastic' driver, I was stopped a lot in my youth and I came to recognise the error of my ways. Usually the police said something along the lines of 'you were driving well, but there is a legal speed limit, etc... Now, be on your way and don't let us have to stop you again.' Those days are long gone, it seems.
As stated above, there are several BiB on here that present sensible, balanced views, as well as an excellent insight into how and why things happen the way they do.
For that, I am very grateful. Thank you BiB.

Totally agree, the police dont set the laws, they only enforce them, and basically anyone who chooses to ignore them, ie exceeding NSL and getting fined only have themselves to blame, no body else.
They may not agree with the law on speed limits, but as responsible people, (they must be to hold a driving licence me thinks), they should uphold it.
