BF2 is too slow for me as well, but its good fun. All downhill since cs 1.3, and still looking for something to replace it!
It has gone downhill.
The first few beta's were a good laugh, remember playing it and T's and CT's had about 3 guns each, and wore almost exactly the same outfits. Just a two eyed or a mono eye'd slit on the balaclava was the difference.
Best times were back in the days of Backalley and Desert, but it's just lost my interest now due to lack of realism and things. Much prefer Day of Defeat Source. Feels so much more real, though that itself has been a tad "arcadeyfied" from the old Day of Defeat.
Simple economics goes, unpopular mod, great fun, really focussed and enjoyable, gets popular, bought out, arcadeyfied to appeal to widest paying audience, attracts idiots and obsessives in equal measure, and the fun is gone.
Still kick arse on CS S when I go on, just it's the same thing every bloody round. No variation, and waiting for campers to die!!!!

I play on Teeside some times but I find 40 players a bit crowded. I usually like to pile in and start shooting but with 40 players you tend to die a lot doing that. Otherwise I can be found on the jolt servers. Used to play as "Tsunami" (name off a set of speakers I had) but had to change that after the boxing day incident so generally play as "Cerbera" (I'm really imaginative with the names )

Played it for about 1/2 a year when it came out, bored of it now..... was in one of the top clans, not 4kings
lol, although i was in 4kings for about 2weeks when they played sof2..!! i was voted in the top 50 Sof2 CTF players 
used to get a ratio of about 91/17 EtcETc.

) I need to get myself into one of her clans!! I thought she was a hairy 40 yr old bloke too!!!
Don't have any of it installed anymore, no gamespy and binded keys, maybe i should have another go sometime, do you still get all the new maps appeareing and is there a league still?
to be honest... I think the kids are happier these days, they always complained that as they slept they constantly heard .......let's get on with the killing!
