which is the most powerful car out of the two, either HSV or
Discussion
hmmm, lets see. Well, your HSV if I am not mistaken is currently making 560bhp, which is pretty close to 570, so thats nearly 100hp/litre. Your smart has a 700cc engine I think? I remember reading somewhere that your's has 112bhp (I could be wrong) which would make it more powerful/litre than your HSV.
Think again stevieturbo, the smart is 138 bhp/litre & the HSV 98 bhp/litre, smart 144 ft lbs/litre, HSV 78 ft lbs/litre – so there you have it, the smart whoops the HSV on bhp & torque on displacement comparison!
boosted ls1, I know so many people dis the smart, especially those who have not driven one, they are just a nippy town car but when 'fettled' they can offer a very interesting drive indeed & you would be suprised how it can take cars by suprise, especially the 2 litre variety. I remember the look on a startled S3 driver (his r/v mirror)when I tailgated him on the M3 at over 130 MPH!
Standing starts, forget it, you could run faster, 80-100 a different matter

caspy, I was referring to modified & highly tuned comparisons, not standard cars, if you took my hsv much more on power it would no doubt blow something, the smart has the option of 25% more power but I need a racing clutch fitted first.
high reving? smart limited to 6,200 RPM, in 6th that would = 142 mph

V8 hsv, Just teasingmust be quite a difference when switching from one car to the other.
Boosted.
Yeah, the hsv is so sluggish round town and the indicator stalk is on the other side LOL
Alright people, silly argument really but I like my smart experience as much as the HSV one, totally different cars in every way, was just suprised how well the performance of the smart is by comparison to obviously a more powerful car.
Yes, I've blown away an R6 before (135 mph) on French soil and the smart would be nowhere in the comparison and fully appreciate a bike will out perform cars on power/displacement & power to weight ratios normally.
I'll shut up about smarts now and appologise for going on so.....

That sounds like a bike engined one to me?
Yes thats the bike engined one all right, Co. called Z cars do the conversions in UK, Evo did a road test inc the bike one & the Brabus, Brabus one won even though half the power. Heard about peeps fitting Hiabusa engines where the passenger seat was, someone recently put an MR2 engine in too, quite a few examples with 150+ BHP too.
Well here are a few shots of my smart coupe project, 101.3 ft lbs at the rear wheels at 2,700 RPM with 97.3 BHP at the flywheel at 4,750 RPM. Viper induction air is taken from underneath the car now. Will cruise at 105 MPH with only 700cc engine.
