Hi,
I'm having problems with set ups

Is there a tutorial or even a simple explanation of what each of the settings does? i.e. the general characteristics a setting can affect such as "toe in". I know that increasing the toe in" can make the front end more pointy but i don't know which way makes it moreso (+ or -) and I have even less of an idea what most of the other settings do

I really liked the way GT3/4 on the PS2 would tell you the effects of the settings, is there a similar explanation on line that I can print off?

I have no idea, I just download ones and play till I find one I like.

There is a particular person called something like ==_4dphx_== or similar who seems to upload good ones.

If you are using the 911 you might need to make additional changes, it tends to understeer a fair bit because theres no weight over the front wheels. The 911 is very good at accelerating so get your setup and driving style to be stable and late on the brakes maybe?

Oh brake bias, more front means stable braking but the fronts will lock up and the braking distance will be longer. Reduce the front bias until you get to a point you are happy with. So far in GTL I've used anything from 60/40 to 54/46 but as I tweak things more I'll get it down to 52/48 or 51/49.

Thanks for that, before I posted this I had a go in the Pantera, and was playing with the settings. I left the server came back made a few adjustments and went to practice but it had moved onto the race and the car was totally undrivable

9 laps of going backwards into corners can get a bit frustrating

In addition to FWDs Illustration, there is also the 'Castor' adjuster which seems to help reduce understeer big time, higher the number = less understeer but the pay off is that it becomes more twitchy at high speed........

someone was telling me that the power and diff settings were a different way round to GPL is this true? have'nt played with them much realy....

Apparently the diff settings are reversed in GTL, I've read that in a couple of places now

coast side - low percentage means that the car will understeer less... you can feel it turn in better when you come off the throttle.

power side - higher percentage means that the diff transfers more power to the loaded up tyre... so you get more power oversteer.

I think this is right. I'm not happy with my explanation of the coast side thing though as I don;t really know how that works. anyone?

I normally use a coast side setting of 10 or 20% (30% in higher powered cars) and a power side of anywhere from 20 or 30 to 80 (in the lower powered cars).

Oh yeah, in the 911 I have coast side diff at about 60, 70 or 80% !!
