Slightly off topic, but I'm looking into hooking into the GTL game engine to get acceleration data out - I'm going to feed this into a tilt table for a race setup (seat, wheel, peddels). The idea is that as you corner, accelerate forward or brake the setup tilts to give the player the feeling of acceleration. This won't be a big budget thing, just a toy for myself (I've seen some very high-end hydralic systems in action), and anybody else that wants one once I've got it sorted.

I want to do this for PC games as they will allow the easiest way into the code to get the data. As GTL seems so popular I was going to look into using that, but not sure if it's possible, and thought I'd ask on here before approaching them, just incase anybody here knew.

Cheers,

Dave

Hmm well, it does seem that for GTL the data is not lying around in text files for you to play with as you wish like in the old days, so you might find it difficult to access that kind of vehicle data with a 3rd party app/driver.

Then again, maybe not!

Sorry I can't be more helpful. I believe the GTL developers were a bunch of ex-modders so they will probably be into this sort of project, you'll just have to contact them somehow?

A good place to find out more would be RaceSimCentral too, they have forums devoted to just about every sim there is and ones on modding them too. I'd also consider rFactor for your purposes as it is the same engine as GTL, just a bit more "open".
