I would imagine the fixing has come off the back of the dash, has the button next it moved in as well? I think you’ll need to take the dash out, you need to undue the steering column bolts, under the screws at the bottom of the dash, also take the vent out the dash and reach for the wing nut holding the dash in.

You could try opening the glove box fully and see if you can reach up to the button from behind, probably easier to take the dash out in the long run, just be careful not to bend the dash or the veneer will crack.

That is bad news, same thing happened to me a while back and my mates, i fixed both, It will be the captive bolt glued onto the back of the dash that has come free.

You have to take the wooden dash out - pain of a job - undo wing nut at far left hand side (I got to this by removing the glovebox). Then remove the two screws near the steering wheel and the whole thing will slowly move out with gentle persuasion. I will give you a gold star if you manage to get it out, fix the bolt back on with araldite, and replace the whole lot without it cracking or scuffing ripping the leather, and then with all the dials and bulbs working!!

Oh and also cover your alloy gear nob with a cloth to protect it.

also easier if you can remove the steering wheel.

Good luck.

Just to add you can also get to this wingnut if you pull out the leftmost heater blower on the wooden dash. Just be careful not to drop it!

Tut tut you really should have a copy of Steve Heaths Bible www.tvrbooks.co.uk/ Its all in here.

But while your waiting for that to be delivered.

As said before pop the left had vent off you and you should be able to feel a wingnut behind teh top left hand corner Undo that. Then pop the other vent out too
Drop the sterring wheel down but find the two bolts under the Column that hold it up ( think there 13mm) wath out there may be 2 large washer drop down that sit above the braket.

Once the steering wheel is dropped down you can get easiliy at the two screws behind the steering wheel console holding the dash in place.Undo them

Bearing in mind i dont have teh Veneered dash anymore so less likely to chip mine off :heeh: so I dont have to be as carefull as you are going to have to be. I put Vaseline or the like around the leather infront of the dash, This helps when pulling teh dash out to make it easier and prtect the leather.

You dont need to get teh whole lot out to get where you want to get to.

Place a clothe over the centre console and teh sterring column.

I Gentle push the dash just above/right of the right hand vent as i do that i pull where the left hand vent is. You should be able to do this very gentle and ease it out sometimes tipping the top edge towrds you wil help too. Like I said you should only need to get teh dash half out to get the nut your after that is glued to the rear of the dash.
