I have just got a R400 and want to try it out on a circuit with plenty of run off and was recommended to try Silverstone. I have done a few track days in other cars but consider myself a novice and want to really learn more car control in a safe environment. I'm based in SW London.

Thanks,

James

Run off = Bedford Autodrome.

Virtually nothing to hit. Lots and lots of tarmac run-off followed by lots and lots of grass run-off. Yes you could stuff your car but you'd have to be trying very hard in the very obviously wrong place.

Google it. Go with whoever is running a day there.

I'd suggest this is going to serve you better. Only ever heard great things said about Walshy's training days and the run-off at North Weald is... well, epic.

Is this your first track day or your first track day in your R400? Silverstone GP (don't bother with the other layouts) is a superb circuit, and as long as you build up speed during the day it'll be fine. I did it a couple of weeks ago in my Westfield and it was superb! Took most of the day to build up confidence and speed though. Also there are plenty of garages to use at Silverstone - important if it's raining.

Thanks for the replies, Ive done track days before mostly on my 911SC which is a lot slower than the R400 which I'm finding a little quick for the road. I didnt fancy trying my first track day with it at Brands or Goodwood as I imagine I could easily spin it a few times.
