Hi - I picked up your plea on one of the other threads. There is a thread on the GOC site about this, and the only suggestion that appears to be on the table is one that would require the GOC to convince Lord March that 50 years continuous business for one of Britain's few remaining sports and race car marques is a big enough anniversary to warrant a Ginetta feature on the Goodwood Festival of Speed agenda (the Festival, not the Revival Meeting).

A tall order, but at least some people are providing some ambitious ideas - The GOC committee seem short on thinking for this event (if the last set of committee minutes is anything to go by)or at least, if they do have some plans, they are keeping them secret for now.

sounds not bad but i guess to play (driving up the hill) would be limited to very few cars so we would end up just wrecked in a tent if you know what i mean. The venue and the day would be great but it would be nice to drive ones car in anger and sedately with the family that was one of the nice things of the 40th, for me anyway.

There is no chance of driving 'one's car' in anger at the FOS - it is not that type of event. The best the marque can hope for is a G4 or G12 being allowed up the hill - in my opinion in an historic context it should be the late great Graham Hill's son, Damon, repeating his father's testing of the G4 - now imo that would be an historic occasion!
Better still would be the acceptance of both a G4 and G12 in an appropriate race at the Revival Meeting, especially the G4 because of the link with the Goodwood circuit and Nick Grace who held a circuit record there, plus the link with his widow, Carolyn, who is now the master (mistress?) in flying Nick's Spitfire - a G4 on the circuit and Grace's Spitfire overhead, that would be memorable.
To achieve any of this needs real pressure, dedication and devotion in order to try to make it happen - reality means it will be left to 'the same few' to persevere again... but it's not impossible if some changes come. 2008 is not upon us just yet.

I disagree - if either LNT or the GOC can capture the imagination of the people who run the Festival, it could be a really big event for Ginetta. They have done it for other marques, so why not our favourite?

Not like you, Dandarez, to give in at the first! surely you are not suggesting that the FOS organisers are part of some wider anti-ginetta conspiracy theory?

Seriously, I don't think that the Revival meeting would be right for the GOC - and I personally don't have any clothes that are old enough. If we find that we can't get on the FOS agenda, then what is to stop the GOC spending some of the cash it has in the bank, hiring a speed venue and putting on its own trackday/show/party? It does not have to be expensive - both Curborough and Kames are available for private hire, and I am sure others are, too.

Who knows - it might also be an opportunity to take the AGM and annual GOC pilgrimage away from the dreadful Stoneleigh....

I (we) haven't given in at the 'first' - several attempts have been made but 'we' are lone voices although one now has quite an influence so there is some 'real' hope.
As for GOC capture the imagination of the festival organisers? Use some of the (members!) cash? Excuse me while I choke.

Dr J Parmer of brands hatch nearly bought a G15 two race, I think ? at least he has heard of " Ginetta" might might might do something in cost to have it there ? the G O C club funds could pay !!!! it is the 50th !!! maybe LNT/Ginetta would help two pay to show their history and future !!!. Two be honest I am not a paid up member, it not my money, but I would pay two go and drive, and to be at a venue like that.
