Mondeo's seats
Discussion
Pity they didn't let you stretch to the ST220 - you get electric heated Recaros in that, and they're fab. I've found a lot of seat discomfort can be caused by setting the seat too low or at the wrong angle. Also, a mate of mine was complaining of terrible shoulder pain. He thought it was the seat, but when I suggested moving the steering wheel a bit closer, it solved all his problems.
Thanks for your help fellas.
I've driven 1500 miles in it now and I just can't live with the seats. Obviously it's just me as Ford wouldn't have sold so many of them if they were uncomfortable. However, it feels to me like there's a brick in the back of the seat!
Nice engine and handling though.

I have had a a Mondeo Titanium X 2.2 TDCI on a 54 plate,22000 mls.for 5 weeks. The car is superb, apart from one thing. The drivers seat was SO uncormfortable-I was limping within a few days-that I have actually changed both front seats.I have bought 2 front seats from a 04 plate Ghia X,full leather,8 position(£200 Ebay) and what a difference.I have had a Ghia X,Y reg and ST220 03 reg before this car and have not had this problem before.I have noticed the previous reply and wonder why nobody else has had this problem,I am 6ft 1 and 15 1/2 stone so maybe its only larger people that have this trouble. One of my mates drove the car for 230 miles and was limping himself for a couple of days.Tip.Buy the ST155 with full leather Recaro seats!
I've had a new TDCi Zetec for 6K with no problems, and now a new ST TDCi for almost 800 miles, and exactly the same situation.
I'm over all roads not just smooth motorways, and the seats are absolutely fine.
I think you need to adjust the seat some more to see if you can get a position just right.
I'm 6' 1", and over 19 stone - seating is something I need to be right, especially when driving for 700 miles a week (average).
That said, the Honda Accord Executive seats have great side bolstering, which you can feel holding you in position round the twisties. Shorter gear lever would be better.
The ST is rental - and I'm torn between buying one of them and the Accord - used unfortunately - and the Accord is slightly winning. Will I miss the trip computer enough to go with the Ford? Will I regret not having a 3 yr/90K warranty to fall back on?
If the Honda was not an option, then I think you should persevere with the Titanium only get something sorted on the seating side, but I'm surprised you can't find a position that's comfortable over a prolonged period of driving.

Ive had a mondeo 3 months and the seat is really bad, something pressing into my upper hip on right leg, got the seat replaced but didnt make any difference, its a shame cause its a great card to drive, i drive a transit connect at work sometimes and that has a better seat than the mondeo!
I have had a Mondeo 2.0 tdci LX for 3 weeks. Pleased with the car but uncomfortable for the driver and I now have a bad back. Feels like theres a lump in the middle of the seat - 3/4 the way up my back right between the shoulders.I like the idea of changing the seat but until I read the post above I didnt know it was possible. I could try EBAY but does anyone recommend where to get one - and how difficult it is to fit it ? Also would a GHIA seat be better than an LX ?
I had exactly the same problem with my Mondeo which I got just before Christmas.
Before this, I had the previous shape Mondeo, which had broadly concave seats, so I sat back in it, fairly slumped, as I do in a comfy chair at home. No, it wasn't the approved posture, but I was used to it.
The new Mondeo seemed completely the opposite. Even with the lumbar support fully wound in, the seat was convex, and felt like I was resting on a bar of scaffolding mid-way up my back. That was the one and only pressure point, and it was hideous to drive. I had lower and upper backache for about 3 months, and only now after about 6 months has my back adjusted to it. It'll never be comfortable for me, but at least I don't hate the car any more.
Anyway, I'm obviously not the only one.

I have recently purchased a Mondeo Ghia Tdci Estate the seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in. it Appears to be models post 05 I have sat in pre face lift models and their seats are very comfortable, the garage changed the seat (under warranty) with no effect I then tried 2 other Mondeo’s of the same year the seats were the same.
There are 2 lumps protruding into the seat about 3”-4” from the seat back which after a while become uncomfortable (like some one is pressing on a pressure point) Also the seat seems too narrow again at the back and have something mid back that doesn’t feel right . I think with a bit more padding and give in the seat they would be as comfortable as the older models?. I am using a towel to sit on which isn’t quite thick enough, I am looking for some sort of cushion to make the seat more comfortable, not what I expected to have to do in a new car though, until a better solution is found. Other wise I like the car drives well and has masses of room. Although the clutch is taking some getting used to the return spring seems a little fierce any one else having the same trouble.

I have a 02 Zetec estate. When I test drove it I could feel something pressing in my back. I mentioned this to the salesman and he just adjusted the lumber support. Felt much better, still fell it a little bit but comfortable over 200-300 miles.
However nowhere near as comfy as the seats in my previous car, a V70, they were sooooo lush.

I had an 54 ghia and never had any problems. I have a fairly bad back and yet was always very comfortable. However, as I had an auto, I could set the seat quite a long way bag and sit fairly reclined so that I was sort of laying back...not what you're supposed to do I'm sure, but it does take the strain/weight off your back.
Perhaps there is something in point that someone made above about them (possibly) fitting different seats on the face lifted cars?
