Ok, I don't know the actual date. But I understand in the very near future there are 12 new cars going to be made available to download from the xbox live market place. I believe you can "test drive" them for free. But will have to pay for the full set if you want to keep them, and have them available off line. However, I don't know yet what they are going to charge for them.

From memory there is an AMV8 (Aston Martin), Twin Turbo Saleen, Ferrari 612 Sacalywatsit, Mitsubishi FW400 Evo, Another tuned Viper, Lambo Gallardo SE and............I can't remember the rest.

I got the info from one of the xbox mags in W.H.Smiths yesterday that i was flicking through. I expect it'll be all over some of the game sites by now. Anyway, just thought i'd let the PH massive know!

Lets hope they are cheap for what they are... afterall you pay £40 for a whole game with loads of cars and tracks, so anything more than £5 will be extortion!

Will be nice to see what price they come up with...

Looks like at least 1 car could be free (if you already have a memory card): www.britxbox.co.uk/index.htm?ref=news&id=908069671

I'd rather pay a small sum to download it...

Now then, how much exactly is 400 microsoft points in old money?

According to the official site for Microsoft’s new PGR3 global tournament, the Speedpack will be launched at a reasonable 400 Microsoft Points. The download will feature 12 new cars, new achievements and “other enhancements”.

According to various online reports the new cars will be:

Aston Martin AMV8 Vantage 2006
Audi RS 4 2006
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2006
Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe 2006
Ferrari 612 2006
Lamborghini Gallardo SE 2005
Mitsubishi FQ400 2006
Nissan Nismo Skyline GT-R Z-Tune
Pontiac GTO 2006
Radical SR8 2006
RUF RT12 2006
Saleen S7 Twin Turbo 2006

The same sources suggest the following fixes/changes to the game will be forthcoming:

Quit to lobby functionality for host (in playtime)
Lock to host car, Lock to host car class (in playtime lobby)
Previously played routes list - with save functionality for custom routes over Xbox Live.
Show position of players option in online races (playtime/online career)
Hide H.U.D option.
Manual gears possible in Race Against The Clock
Show who's speaking in online races
Steering Wheel support
We have also resolved a couple of exploits people have found online and made the "Online Professional" badge easier to achieve.

Shame there’s no Bugatti Veyron in that list.

The date is next monday (17th)

Edited to add: The free car will be the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

You will also be able to buy the cars individually using Microsoft points, 400 (which is the price for all the cars) works out at about £2.50

Cheers Steve, thanks for the info. I've not bought stuff of live before. Do you just put in a credit card number, preferably your own?

When you select the download pack it will ask you to buy some Billypoints, they come in various packs, the more you buy the cheaper they are, you then use the points to pay for the pack.

If you pay for xbox live with your credit/debit card (rather than a prepaid voucher) it will take it off that card by default.

great..more stupidly fast cars..

how about some normal cars like a 350z, m3 or some fast hatches..for the older chaps like me.whose reactions arent quite what they were when i was 17.

pgr2 may look pap now, but the range of cars was far more fun.

Bizarre have decided to keep with the "life begins at 170mph" theme so that's why there's no slower cars this time around, apparently Microsofts market research since the game has been released has been 'interesting' so i'll bet that PGR4 whenever it appears will go back to the formula of a variety of vehicles from all spectrums.

I really wanted some slower fun car. Could have had golf mk5 r32, Astra vxr etc etc. In pgr2 car like that made for some close and enjoyable racing.

OK it's changed again today, rumor on-line is that it's changing every night at midnight, so the class of car rotates for all the tracks, given it something extra again..
