BTW, did you know that if you build an imitation; you have to put a badge on every panel and piece of glass, just in case someone might think it's not the real thing?

?!?!

never once heard this before, and of the 1000's of rep's I've seen, I'd say absolutely zero followed that rule.

I have on the other hand seen many 100's of rep's that use original equipment & badges in all the correct places to make the car able to fool quite close scrutiny.

Where did you hear this, and got any links to it? If it does exist, it's obviously not enforced in any way shape or form.

can I blame it on the fact I've just come out of a meeting I had to sleep through for an hour please? I seem to have blown my irony chip...

well i am suprised at how negative people are on th subject of replicas, personally i think why the hell not, you wont have the performance but you will have the looks and that is IMO 50% of the package, and thats at much less then 50% of the cost.

I have to say even though i havent seen it in the flesh in the pics it already looks much better then any f355 rep i have seen ever!

are there any better 360 kits out there?

You'll get a lot of negativity on replica's from some throws of the community, though in this instance I think it's down to the particular model rather than the fact its a rep. (at least it is on my part)

there are far better replica's out there. Dont know of a 360 in particular but other marques certainly.

popular over here too!

Have a look at lamboreplica.co.uk - load of helpful people on there.

Only difference is the build price tag they tend to attract... you could get a lower range real Ferrari for the price some people spend building the lambo's. In fact, I've seen the real lambo they are replicating go for less than some spend on them

seconded. It rode too high, had awful fake big disc brakes and just didn't quite look right. Some of the MR2 355s look pretty authentic, even quite close up

The best thing about the fake brakes was the complete absense of calipers...

Cant say I was impressed

nice find audior!

Still think it's a real shame that so few of the kit companies out there have any real design flair, or at least enough to put together a nice looking car. Dont get it myself, I'm sure there must be someone who could come up with a top notch looker rather than rely on replica's. The Phantom is by far the best "non-replica" IMHO, though I really would like to get my hand's on the GTD T70!

Reps & Reasons.

Used to have a BMW, it got stolen & trashed, got another, it got stolen & set ablaze, so I thought ok, A brand new beamer with better Security Alarm, Imob etc, they were 22k at the time, too steep for me. So while looking though Auto Trader at anything nice, second hand for around the 15K mark ( Beamers, Mercs,Lotus, Audi's,) I came across a Ferrari Rep n thought it looked nice, a bit different from the big van I drive everyday, Long Story Short, got one factory built, picked it up, them holy sH##t....... what a shock, massive massive shock, never give it a second thought about what other people would do or say about my new car, 99% of people love it, the other 1% horses for courses, fair enough.
Im not a car freak, but I like my car alot, I dont love it, its a fibreglass box with wheels on at the end of the day and it saves my legs from being sore if I had to walk to my sisters in Newcastle.
Its fun to build and change things and to go to KIT car shows and talk to like minded people on a sunny weekend. Im not out to fool anybody, im proud that its "just panels over my MR2 mate" i dont go "cruzing " to the pub in mine, I go to Asda, and if im feeling posh, Marks n Spencers.
There is some crap out there, but glad to say its dying off, I agree, why the fk put stickers everywhere? they look stupid. Less is more. New 360....looks great on the web site....real life? Massy Fergerson would turn in his grave.
There you go.

Replica is wide of the mark, since it fails to replicate the looks, sound or performance.
Fake is a better description.

If that's what you want, that's fine by me, have fun with your car.

Looks - You cant tell from 3 feet away unless your an anarack.

Sound - You cant ever get an inline 4 to sound like a V set up. So second best here, custom system very close as audio tuned stainless from blue flame, but still not the same nope.

Performance - Without letting all the world and his dog into my private life (The exact description would take away my anonymity) Racing engine in mine, come watch at York Dragway. Hate saying this cuz my car is for me, I dont want to have to stick up for it to some average bloke whos got the hump, im not here for that sort of kak, if I like it, thats what I like, Big But ( I said that to the girlfriend once lol ) mine has just 50 B.H.P less than dare I say it the REAL(oh my god - he said it) thing, but is faster both in 0-60 times and at the top end, the MR2 turbo as standard does a 5.9, fiddle about, nip to the bank for 7K, add Noz, hey presto, there you.
You might like it, but not alot? lol
Fake is ok with me, I like my fibre glass shoe box I do.
Id love a Real one instead of my pretendy one lol.
There you go.

I have to admit, I see nothing wrong with "replicas" personally.

I prefer the F355 (Mk2 MR2 donor) from Extreme and the reviews it's had seem to suggest that it's the one to go for when doing an F355 rep.

It's something I'm planning on doing later this year or next.

Look at the rear of the 355 from extreme, any person who has seen a real 355 (a fan) sees the difference in a windblow. If you'd like to buy a replica best choice is a lambo in my opinion, they're curvy and it's easy to replicate. And hi to everybody .
