Just parted with a massive (NOT!) £140 to have the std HSV silencer boxes removed from my exhaust system - mainly for the noise factor - Unbefeckinleivable!!! Already sounded good but now sounds like an insane dog that just got let off it's chain - not sure of the right techo term but "goes better too"!! Had the job done by a mob (mob's name was Graham!) called Exhaust By Design tucked away in the tiny Buckinghamshire village of Tigewick - awesome job bending up some custom stainless to effectivley replace the entire mid section. Thanks again to Monkfish for steering me to EBD. So it makes some sense to the more technically informed - I had the standard HSV GTS(R)Coupe exhaust on mine plus pacemaker headers so now there is nothing but pipe after the cats except for a slightly wider section just before the tip (slight silencer tube me thinks?). Once again - dunno if it's my imagination but car seems to pick up 10-15% quicker between 2500-5000 RPM - maybe it's cos it's breathing better - I'm sure someone can explain for me! Won't have my baby too much longer - needless to say not gonna listen to too many CD's for the last couple of weeks - windows down, Mahatmacoat on! Cheers J.

Nice one! - we need sound clips! I don't know why you would have got such a dramatic increse in power - part of it may be your brain fooling you because of the awesome sound but apart from that I can only guess your engine is breathing much better, either way, enjoy your remaining time with IMO the best looking car on this forum.

Nice one. I bet it sounds awesome. So get some sound clips up. Are you getting alot of drone in the cabin though? To test what I mean - try accelerating in 6th from about 1250-1500 RPM if you can.

wouldn't say it was "dramatic" but certainly noticeable. Was already full of smiles when ever I pressed the GO pedal but now I am actually in "dillema ville" when I have the keys in one hand & Sooze tappin me on the shoulder if u get my drift!

Noise is more noticeable in the cabin but not too much at all.

Very different "burble" when changing down & decellarating though.

I'm gonna go to Monkfish Thursday night so anyone with a mic?? I don't have the gear to do a proper record - I spose I could tape it with my moby??

Never touched the programming at all.. GTS Coupe is same Calllaway 300KW as UK GTS(R) and has a HSV standard mafless setup that's a bit diff to yr other models.. I had it explained to me once before (stax I understand) but it has some kind of progressive programming or sumfin??? Either way.. me press loud pedal, me happy!

Yep GTS 300KW has a pretty good spark map anyway, or at least the later models do.
So not much to be gained there. It runs mafless speed density mode factory too.
Might be some room to move on PE mode, which is basically WOT, around the air fuel ratio.

The R8 285KW and the GTS 300KW tunes are very very similar. The difference is in the heads and cam. Oh and speed density on the GTS.

Id imagine the tune was pretty good as stock. Its the old crusty 225KW+ models that could do with a good tune. HSV late models are pretty good.
