I've decided that my 6 year old Cerbera needs a new friend and a well deserved rest. She's going into the garage and coming out only on sunny days.

I've heard that as well as being waterproof (never a TVR feature)the VXR will give me the Price to Grunt ratio that the Cerb was so good for.

Our local VH garage has a late 2005 VXR demo at 34k with 4k miles on the clock. Over the phone they've told me that this was a £40k car with loads of extras (leather etc).

Can someone tell me if this is true. Ive checked the forum and the VH website and cant see any reference to Options and costs. any help would be much appreciated.

Also i've no option but to go with a main dealer because i've no trade-in and i'm looking for a low finance deal.

Ouch!! £34k is savagely expensive.

I got my 05 ex demo Monaro VXR for considerably less.

As for the extras.... There aren't any official ones.

Me thinks your dealer is taking the p1ss

Been plenty of good examples around with low miles (circa 5000) at £28-30K.
I agree, £34K... "tell him he's dreamin!"

Ask him to list the options.. last time I checked, HSV GTO (VXR) came with cowskin as std kit.

First things first, the dealer is talking leather was standard on all Monaros, and to my knowledge there were no factory options, maybe a few dealer fit thingys, (flaps, paint protection etc) but thats all.If the car was bought with aftermarket goodies like exhaust and remap, ripshift etc. then the guy may have paid £40K, but in any case unfortunately mods aren't worth too much second hand on any car so the original price is irrelevant. (Although they are very desirable and worthwhile on the Monaros). Is your local VH a VXR dealer? I've had 4 TVR's and an HSV previously and just sold a Noble, but the draw of these cars is tempting me again. Mail me through my profile if you wish and we can swap notes, wouldn't be fair to existing owners to do so here.

Thanks to everyone for the help. The dealer has dropped the price to £30k and their finance deal looks ok, still over the top a bit but liveable with.

I just need to do a selling job on the 'Drinks Policewoman' who thinks the VXR looks like a Saab...u know what their like.

Will post when i have done the fatefull deed

cheers

The 6.0l cars look best in black no question. But 04 CV8's have to be red!
